"This New Year's Eve will be the last one of this decade".
Woah.
Is it just me or did anybody else just realize that it's 2009 and that is the last year in this decade? I mean seriously, in my mind, it's still around 2002. I will forever feel stuck in my graduation year. The year I ventured out on my own. The year I got my first full-time job. The year I got my first car. It was a year of first's. How did we get to 2009 already? And how the heck is it nearly 2010? Twenty-ten. WEIRD. That is weird to say. Twenty-ten. Arghhhhh....I am SO not ready for this. Am I the only person kinda freaking out? Ok, maybe not freaking out but just "eaking out".
I remember when I was in my younger twenties and didn't understand people who would complain about getting older, about time flying, about the years passing. I just couldn't relate and would naively think to myself...gosh it's not that bad, what the heck are they complaining about? Well ladies and gents, I'm here to tell you that I was wrong. I now realize what everybody was talking about. I'm saying all the things that I didn't previously understand. I can't believe I am now that person who is talking about how time flies and whining that we're already at 2010.
Here's another one for you - I am driving Rich's car this week and found myself jamming out to the 90's music channel on his sirius player this morning and I thought to myself when I have kids and if I'm still listening to the 90's music channel, they'll probably be rolling their eyes and begging me to change the channel. When did 90's music get old my friends? Urgh - when it turned 2010 I guess!! And here's one more for you...I remember recently asking a young 8 year old girl if she knew what a walkman was. Yeah - I totally lost her on that one - haha!!
Sigh.
I probably need to take my 'twenty-year-something' advice and just get over it while I can as it's probably not going to get any better. And I guess to be honest it's not that I ruminate on this particular subject. I think hearing that statement on the radio hit me like a ton of bricks given that I still feel that we're in 2002. I probably need to just update my internal clock and start realizing that we're entering in to a new decade complete with a journey of good things and learning challenges!

I hear you... I still feel like I'm in 2003 and frequently get my age wrong when people ask me. Apparently 30s are better than 20s though! Bring it on! xx
And i am still in 1984 ! Sigh ! Suddenly it is 'many years later' !!
And some years later they are going to say...once upon a time it was 2010 !
Well well well..time ! :)
Happy new year !
I like your attitude Emmy! Bring it on indeed!
Happy New Year to you too Kavi. :)
I couldn't agree more. The sad thing is: once you have kids it goes by FASTER. How is that even possible you ask? I don't know, but it does. Suddenly 6 months pass and you wonder where the time went - *sigh*.
yes i've heard about that phenomena. sigh. oh well - it's all worth it in the end although i'll probably still complain about it. it comes with old age. :)
Happy New Year Kavita and Rich. Just think of it as a shiny new decade just for newlyweds!
Love and hugs,
Jan
As for the 90s music, my husband's brothers and sisters (who are 12-19 years old) totally listen to it, as if it's their generation's music. CRAZY!
