Houdini

Update on the cat situation! Roxie's story ended up being quite an interesting one! We were feeding and petting her consistently for just over a week when we noticed one day that although she was eating the food, she wasn't coming when we called nor waiting for pets. We thought that she was getting a bit uppety - you know....eating without showing any gratitude.

Well come to find out little Roxie had been getting a lot of love and food from a bunch of our neighbors! Our neighbors and us started putting two and two together and we soon realized that we are all feeding this little one and petting her too. I have to say that once I figured this out, I felt a bit 'used'. Apparently little Roxie was going from one house to the other meowing at the front door and being cared for! One day, one of the neighbors, actually took Roxie in for a day or two which explained her little disappearance. While "Roxie" stayed at the neighbors, we soon discovered that we should used the name Rocko. Yup, that's right...he apparently had two furry balls that Rich and I somehow missed. I guess we weren't pay too much attention!

Anyway, long story short, our neighbor has permanently taken in Fred. Yup, she called him Fred. Is it just me but is that a wierd name for a cat? Oh well, I shouldn't complain. Rich and I are very grateful that Roxie/Rocko/Fred now has a wonderful home!

So in the mean time, while we were figuring out where RoxoFred went, somebody was still eating the cat food. Somebody with four paws and perhaps a black coat. Yup, you heard me right. We have somehow now adopted another cat!! What the crap?? This guy is very different from RoxoFred. While the latter was very affectionate, this cat is pretty much non-existant. Well...except for the fact that he/she eats all the food we put out and somehow gets all kind of dirt in the water bowl. I'm thinking that he/she is dipping their paws in for a mid-day 'wash'. :) Since we have only seen this cat once and from a far distance, we have affectionately named him/her Houdini the vanishing cat.

To be continued...

ps - no more cats or dogs!! Oh Louise!

I am happy "Rocko" has found a home, and how clever and funny of him to be so opportunistic. I adore cats but that is so typical of them!

I went through a stage when I kept on finding dogs which is probably why we ended up with four. Recently not so much. I am not sure if it is because subconsciously I know we can't handle more, or whether I just don't look as hard. It always bothers me to find "stray" anything though, and I always lose sleep over it so it is probably just as well.

Yay for stray happy endings though! :)
