Craving!
I don't know how to describe it. Maybe it has salt added. Maybe it's because it's fresher. Less processed? I don't know why! But let me tell you that the last time I was home in India (Dec 07), I loved having toast with butter for breakfast. Nothing better. Hmm, hmm, hmm.
And don't get me wrong, on the weekends my favorite breakfast is still toast with butter and marmalade but every time I slather on the butter, I think back to the creamy delicious Indian butter and I do a quick and very small pout.

Indian butter.
I'm craving Indian butter.
Can anybody relate? Are you craving some type of favorite food that you can't get your hands on? A favorite dish? A favorite snack food? A favorite butter?

I've never had Indian butter, but I looooooooooooooooooove butter, in all forms, as long as its BUTTER and not margarine.
I miss these weird cheese things my great aunt used to make in South Dakota, but since I have no idea what they were called... I can't find a recipe for them. It was like mac and cheese only with dumplings?
Oh, and FRESH rhubarb strawberry pie. Or asparagus grown on the side of the road...
I want to go see my family in South Dakota. :(
yes i don't know what it is about that butter, but it does taste really good. see if you can go to an indian shop and look for amul... my indian shop has some. i'd send it to you but somehow melted amul butter isn't that good.
;)
Leaner - I am from South Dakota and I am not exactly sure the food you are referring to but I'll ask some family members and if I find anything close I'll let you know! It's the worst not to be able to track something like that down.
Kavita - I love that you crave butter! So much in fact that you wrote about it:) Me, I ALWAYS crave sweets.
I miss a good English curry. I know that is a contradiction in terms because the curry I miss is actually Indian curry, but I just miss the way they are made in England. I know there are curry houses here, but they are just not the same. I am pouting too now.
I want to go see my family in England. :(
P.S I miss Twiglets too and I absolutely refuse to go to the English store here to get them because the prices are outrageous.
Obviously not the stuff you bought in the stores in India! Makes me long for western stuff :) Every time I go to the west it's one of my first purchases, the Danish butter :) Here? It's different, that's for sure.... but I'm grateful still :)
Now I'm curious, I want to try this butter! I hope you can track some down nearby, there is nothing worse than craving something you love and can't get. Well, maybe there are worse things...but not when your hungry!!
☺
OK you're on re the podcasts :)
btw do you want to remain on no-reply comment status? Makes it too hard to email you back when you comment.....
Leaner, are you talking about cheese curds? If so, Culvers has them locally.
Aarti, I've checked a couple places without luck!!
Lizzie, I crave cookies with chocolate in them but my wedding dress makes eyes at me whenever I try to indulge myself. :)
MoMo, yes I remember the infamous balti chicken when we would visit London. but i know what you mean...it's hard to find a good curry place here. And i miss twiglets too!!
Braja, by Danish butter, do you mean Lurpak? I remember that stuff growing up. It was good too!
Lori ann, there probably are worse things but sometimes in the moment you lose perspective...even if for a second. :)
Braja, what's no-reply comments and how do i change it?
Indian butter is da bomb. So good spread on pain roti and accompanied with a creamy chai. I also love the eggs there. I had omelettes A LOT while there. Om-nom-nom...now I'm craving masala omelettes!
oh yes, i love amul on chapathis too! YUM!!
