Tigger tired

Me...that's me. I'm tigger tired. Wah-wah-wah...between my last post and today's, it's all wah-wah-wah. The good news is that my groin feels a heck a lot better. The bad news is that I went to chase Taz around the bedroom today and realized that I'm not 100% healed. Oh well...it will be a process. In the mean time no tap dancing nor softball. I really want to heal up da groin real good! I want to be ready to play again next Friday.

In other news, life has been busy. Really, really, really busy! Work got a crap load busier - it's a good thing and I'm loving it but it usually means that I'm catching up on email until 7 or 8 at night this past week. I don't mind too much because it helps me stay on top of things but I'm hoping that it won't be a consistent thing.

Friday is our appointment with the INS or whatever they call themselves these days. USCIS? UCSIS? I think they should just go back to being called the INS. Anyhoo, I digress. I've busy getting everything ready to prove to them that we are a legit couple. I asked our attorney if Rich and I could just make out in front of the INS people. I don't think she found it very funny, (although I did of course). So since we can't do that, I'm busy printing up proof that we're the real deal. It's exhausting! I also have to print up a bunch of our pictures from our vacations and put them in albums. Our attorney asked for pictures where we're in different climates. Good thing we were in Chicago 2 winters ago and at Mount Hood in June. I'm going for the snow-in-the-background kind of pictures.

Is this post boring? Bah, I think it's boring.

Wah-wah-wah.

Wah-wah.

Wah.

Ok done. I'm done whining.

Although life has got exponentially busier as of late, we had a great weekend and week so far seeing our fwends! That's right - our fwends! Saturday I hung out with my friend Lisa who I've known since I moved to AZ. Got to hang out with her most adorable baby boy and I got some awesome video footage of how cute he is! He definitely kept me laughing. Saturday night, we went to our friend's Kim and Tony's house to celebrate his new U.S. citizenship. Saturday night was also our friend Cindy's birthday so we headed to an Irish bar to throw some darts (although my groin didn't quite like that too much). Sunday I had a long lunch with my friend Julie and then Tuesday night a looooong dinner with my friend Kristin.

Phew!
That was exhausting just writing out. I feel so blessed to be surrounded by such awesome and loving friends. They really are the best. :)

And this Friday is not only our appointment with INS, but I fly out for the dah-dah-dah...bridal shower in Chicago. This will be interesting. I'm not a huge fan of that kind of limelight. In fact I will probably not be very comfortable at all with people making a fuss over me. I'm dreading it a little bit (because of my impending uncomfort) but am working through it. I am definitely looking forward to sleeping in this weekend as there will be no dogs or Rich waking me up early on the weekend! Yay!! Rich's Mom is also going to take me to the Botanical Gardens in Chicago where I will for sure soak in the green and colorful beauty that I have been missing due to this AZ heat!

Bah! So much going on! :) I better not get sick. Oh. Crap. I hope I didn't just jinx myself.

Ok, since I could probably keep on writing about nothing of substance, I should probably sign off for tonight. How am I so wordy when I am so tired?? :)

Signing off,
~kavita
WAIT - did Tigger even get tired? Is the phrase 'tigger tired' an oxymoron?

For what it's worth I think your comment/suggestion to your atty is super funny! And I think you are going to have a really good time at your shower - even if you don't like the limelight this is one of those special times that you should just soak up all of the attention and fun. Can't wait to hear all about it and see photos!

USCIS... My advice is as follows:
1) Tone down your British accent. If you don't you'll have to explain your story... Indian parents, UAE, British school, Michigan... it will sound fake and probably get you on a watchlist of some type.
2) Don't refer to making out as "snogging".
3) The things on the side of the road are "curbs", not "kuvbs".
4) Remember what you had for dinner the night before your interview... sometimes they ask that to prove it isn't a sham marriage.
5) Don't refer to Rich as "what's your name again?" in front of the Adjudication Officer.
6) Slouch, have bad manners when travelling abroad, and ask anyone who is not white if they speak English... that way the Adjudication Officer will know that you've assimilated to living in America. You will also get bonus points if a person does not speak English and you simply shout the same question at them. Remember increased volume equals increased understanding.
7) Refer to US Government textbooks... Name the three branches of the US government... Name a Senator from your state... What was the Civil War about... Name a Founding Father... etc.
8) Threaten to sue anyone and everyone... this is the American way.
9) Drop an "Axis of Evil" reference.
10) If you get lunch with Officer be sure to order "Freedom Fries" ('Freedom Toast' if you get breakfast).

#4 and #7 are my only real suggestions... all the rest are jokes... #10 might be a good idea, though.

Good luck.

Wow have fun in Chicago! I think making out is a good idea! It sucks that you just want to get married and be happy but you have to go through the whole INS crap... Had to go through something similar but not quite so bad when I came to Canada....
