Umm, seriously?

I don't want to make my blog the weekly news round up but I can't help but share my thoughts about this story that I happened to come across today in the news.  Here's a quick recap.  A Baptist Cchurch in Kansas has been wrapped up in the legal system for doing what I think is just insanely awful...for loudly protesting at the funerals of U.S. Service Men and Women.

Wha????????

What the crap????

Oh it gets better (note sarcasm).  Nearby these funerals they hold signs that read "Thank God for dead soldiers" and "God blew up the troops".  Why?  Because they are protesting homosexuality and on top of that believe that it's because of homosexuality that the U.S. Service Men and Women are dying in the war.

Wha?????????

Does any of this make the slightest sense to you?

Why in the hell would you purposefully choose to protest in such a way on one of the saddest days in a family's life?  At a funeral?  Stuff like this makes me want to drop the 'f' bomb like it's going out of f'in style.  Who does this kind of stuff?

Of course the Baptist Cchurch is crying "free speech, free speech" to defend themselves.  Well you know what Baptist Cchurch, that's all fine and dandy but where is your frickin' decency?  Let's see if you would be all right with similar protests if you had to attend a funeral of a loved one?  I mean, come on!!  You can have your own views but don't disrespect a family and the life of somebody who went to war for your arse and especially on the day devoted to celebrating said person's short-lived life.

Sorry, now I'm really getting pissed all over again.

And then...then....!!  After some research I found out that this holier than though Baptist Cchurch is also anti-Semitic and anti-Catholic.  Umm hi...that's a two in one for me.  You hate Jews and Catholics too?  I bet you would love to meet my husband and I.  We're a combo deal my friends!  And who else do you hate?  Wait...let me flip the question...who do you like?  Who do you support?  Arghhhh!

Reading some of the articles online made me put down my ice cream and made me feel physically nauseous.  This kind of stuff just really gets my goat.  It's crazees like this who give such a bad and awful name to Christians.  I mean it's no wonder that Christians get such a bad rap when there are Cchurches like this.  Same thing for Muslims right?  You get a handful of fundamentalists crying Jihad and trying to take down planes and hey presto, Muslims are suddenly a strange, mysterious and 'violent' religion.  Urgh!!

Oh my goodness, I need to calm down.  I need an espresso shot of yoga or something.  Barghhh!!  It's so upsetting and just so wrong on so many different levels.  And I just keep thinking of these families that are probably feeling an insane amount of anger on such a tragic day in their lives.  Can you imagine feeling that kind of rage at these protesters while trying to mourn the passing of your son or your daughter?  Makes it feel like even more of a tragedy.

Sigh.  If you want to read more about this, just google Westboro Baptist Church in Kansas.  Unfortunately you will find a lot of ugly websites that promote their cause as well as a lot of news articles about their protests.  I honestly could hardly look at more than 3 websites because it is all so sickening to realize that there is this kind of hatred alive and breathing in a country that I want to potentially bring babies in to.  Urgh.  Blurgh.  Yurghh.  Blarghh.  Blick.  Ick.  Yick.  Byegh.

There.  I feel a bit better.
Thank you for listening.

Wha??????? That's pure crazy. I don't think I can find words. But I can feel the burn of anger at this idiocy.

BUT, "I need an espresso shot of yoga or something." - that was brilliant! I so need to use that line in my daily life!

Gag. If I weren't already a little queasy that would have totally pushed me over the edge. To not support our troops is one thing, but to openly say that they day because of homosexuals? I think I threw up in my mouth a little just writing that sentence. Going to go use some mouthwash now.

I've been feeling the same way about this but you laid it all down far better than I ever could. So amazingly, outrageously awful for those families!

Kind-of brings to mind this quote: “I like your Christ, I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ.” Mahatma Gandhi

This story also reminds me of Matthew Sheperd's murder (in Wyoming) - groups traveled from all over the country to stand at his funeral with hate signs like this...so sad.

But it is good to know that amongst so much ignorance exist people who are aware of how insane and ironic this behavior really is.

I think I've said enough.

I knew that you would all agree. I guess those that don't agree will be found picketing at my funeral, huh? :)
