Portland, day 3

Are you bored yet? :)

No?

Terrific! Here's one more picture story for you on our third day in the big P.

After having very cheap breakfast at what appeared to be a local chain restaurant (can't beat $3.99 for eggs & bacon!), we headed to Montnumah falls which was about a half hour drive away. These are the first falls I've ever been to and I was in complete awe. I now really really really want to go to Niagra Falls but Montnumah will do for now. It was simply gorgeous. The falls seemed to reach in to the sky and the water fell with such force. Just magnificent. I think I literally gasped when I first saw the falls.

*gasp*

My camera just could not do it justice but here we go...

I don't think that I even got the top of the falls in this picture. It was simply too tall to capture it in my little Canon. The Montnumah falls appeared to have two separate falls - one higher up and then one further down. You can kinda see that in the picture above.

A closer look at the lower falls and where the falls hit the little lake/pond. As gorgeous as the falls were, I seemed to be most intrigued with where the falls actually hit the body of water.

This is where the higher falls hits it's own lake/pond. Am I making any sense here? I hope I am. It's a bit hard to describe. Isn't this gorgeous? I love how green it is. And I forgot to mention that the closer you walk to the falls the colder it gets and you start to feel a very fine mist surround you. Simply breath-taking.

Cheasy pic with falls in the background. It had to be done folks. :)

So after the falls we decided to drive on to wine country in an area called Hood River. It's actually well-known for it's lavendar and fruit farms. I sooooo would have picked fruit but we had no fridge in the hotel and were only there for a couple days. On the way to Hood River, Rich and I got in to a bicker fest and then we laughed it off with this picture...

Yup - that's my hand.
Around his neck.
And he's laughing.
Arghhhhhh!!
I swear sometimes I hate being the navigator - that's all I'm going to say!!

We got our act together and made our way in to a little wine tasting house. We didn't do too much tasting as it of course cost money and we I wanted to be awake for the rest of the day. We I am kind of a light weight. :) The folks there were nice and gave us a couple two for one tastes and everything was very yummy! We talked to them for a while learning about the area and where else to go from there.
That is when we decided to head on over to...
da...
da...
da...
...Mount Hood!
Doesn't it look just huge?!?
It loomed over us in the distance.
Huge.
A huge monstrous mountain.
:)
It was a bit overwhelming knowing we were heading up there.
It seemed so far away.
It seemed like a feat.

Well hello big mountain! You don't look so intimidating now, do you??
:)
Gorgeous, huh? It was lovely to be up there.
Although...
...I was f-r-e-e-z-i-n-g.
Freezing!
That's because somebody Rich didn't tell me that we were heading to the snowy mountain that day. I was wearing capris and a very light jacket. Rich was wearing jeans, a sweater and a jacket.
Uh-hum.
Now do you understand the "i want to strangle you" picture?
hahaha!!
(makes me laugh now, of course!)

This is us after lunch. Need I say more?

As usual, at every vacation we take our sepia infused 'tough gangster' picture and I couldn't resist but share it with you. I LOVE how Rich looks in this picture! He always pulls off 'tough guy' so much better than i can!

All right folks, that's all I got for you for tonight! i think that i might have one more portland post (stop sighing!) and then i'll be done and be back to regular posting. (Stop clapping).
